umm yeah they got a little protective cover thing for the camera so it dont melt, i gotta hard hat at home that shows you what happenes when ya get to close, lets just say it prob wont protect ya head anymore

Those aren't current photos are they - as the furnace is effectively dead at the moment? Inside the furnace when first built is pretty amazing too. The electrodes and the interior look like crap in those pics, looks like the electrodes are in too far and it looks awfully "cold". Won't get much movement in the bath the way it is ... :p

Yes there was a hard hat we had from the shutdown a few years back that was a bit melted - not from the furnace directly, but from someone standing too close to a hot pipe. Was something that lived with the safety crew for many years as a demo :)

I like the pics looking at the reaction shaft - shame you can't get em when feed is on, but they are still spectacular ...

work at the nickel smelter slappa, plucked the pics out of s drive at work im guessing they must be at the end of a couple day shutdown cause it does look quite cold like ya said, in the 2 years i was in the furnace workshop i think i went through 7 or 8 hard hats from them melting
